History and Origins of The Ravensbourne Morris

David Hicks (2017)

Chief Wassailer, David Hicks, passing round the wassailing bowl

Morris exemplifies the enjoyment of summer. From Spring through to the harvest we are out and about enjoying life and dancing through the balmy summer days. But when the festivals are over and the colder evenings draw in, where do we go to be merry? During the dark times of winter, there is a whole new world of ancient English culture to enjoy. A wooden horse with a flatulence problem, tree veneration, symbolic offerings and much larking about. (We draw the line at ritual sacrifices). Come a and join us for our antidote to winter.
